Been a busy Fall!

Hello all!

Wow, so I'll catch ya all up on the crazy last few weeks... and more to come

I just participated a week and a half ago in the Tucson Open Studio tour, and Saturday was incredibly busy, and Sunday was a bit more slow. I did not make a ton of sales, but I had so many new people come by an made so many new connections that I'd recommend any artist to do open studios, just incase you where wondering. I even made new friends, which is always nice. Preparing for these things is nuts, you really need to clean your house because your often inviting people into your home, take out and unwrap all your work, display it, (which for me is literally over 100 paintings of all sizes, tiny to 5x6 feet... My front yard, entire back yard, art studio, hall way and Arizona room where all filled with art. Then of course, ya gotta take it all down, re-wrap it in plastic and bubble wrap, and into the storage they go...

The week after that, I prepared to frame 11 art works, by myself, and hang my solo show at Tiny Town Gallery, the opening was Friday, Nov 4th, it was a success. Then I took the weekend off, cause this next one coming up is gonna be a doozey. I'm preparing for two art fairs, one at the end of November and the next one in December, before that, I'll be back in San Francisco at a group show at Soma Arts on Brannan St Friday, and staying with my gal Pal Ellie Fritz, also an artist, go to www.elliefritz.com to see her fab work. I'll be in SF visiting my old stomping grounds like the SFMOMA where I worked for 6 years, and the Incline Gallery, where my old pal, also from the SFMOMA Christo Oropeza is the curator/director/owner etc, go to www.inclinegallerysf.com to check that out.

The weekend after I;m back from SF, I have another Solo Show with a different body of work. also at Tiny Town Gallery, this is "Material Tendencies", which was work I showed in Berkeley last May/June 2016 with the curator Kimberly Rowe. But this work has never been shown here in Tucson, so I will be de-installing, and installing the week after I get back from SF for that, the opening for "Material Tendencies" at Tiny Town is Nov 18th.

After I get back, I'll be preparing more for the Jackalope art fair in Scottsdale, the last weekend of  November, and staying in Scottsdale that weekend, and when I get back, no time to recover cause I;m sharing a booth with Christina Holland of Christina Holland Designs (jewelry) for the Tucson, 4th ave street fair, that is a three day fair, that bring hundreds of thousands to the down town area, so It's going to be crazy! Hopefully I will make enough $ to take the rest of December off and take a break! No rest for the wicked!

I'm off to make more stuff!

Best,

Leanne

Prints for Purchase!

Hello again!

I am being featured on GlobalArtTraders.com for a little while, so if you don't see something here for sale jump over there and see what I have up. Many Landscapes and older work as well as the newer minimal work are up for purchase, both in print form, and originals. Also, you will see that some of the prices on Global Art Traders are a bit higher than here on the site (we'll talk about the addition of a new purchase section in a sec!) . Why would those prices be higher? Everything ordered from Global Art Traders is a high quality, archival print made by professional giclee' printing company who takes the order and ships directly to you. So there are shipping costs and the print is very nice and more expensive.  Here on my site, it is possible to get custom sizes, and fancy giclee' prints that will last a lifetime upon request for those higher prices. But I keep the cost down when ordering directly from me through my website here, by getting prints made locally and shipping them myself. Either way, you are getting a lovely print of something you will hopefully cherish and brighten your home, office or conference room, where ever they and up for years to come!

So, as I mentioned, I added a "Purchase" page! There are just a few minimal works on there at the moment, I will be adding little by little, more work. If you ever see something I made and don't see it for purchase, just email me! I can get almost anything to you, and if it's already sold I can get prints made. I can get them to you signed and numbered. At the moment I am running prints in series of 50. My email is oilpaint27@gmail.com, or contact me through the contact link here on my site.

I am also excited about a new element I am bringing to my work. Charity. I will be donating 25% of every sale to the Nature Conservatory and the Hope Animal Shelter. I will begin to advertise this a bit more as I get more work loaded onto my site and have more contact with those entities. Updates to come!

Hello Mid August, and Monsoon Inspirations

Well it's been a heck of a month so far. I don't know about you, but something weirds in the air lately.... Any whodily

Here we are at the end of summer! Wow crazy! Where did it go?! Usually I think summer is too hot here in Tucson and I'm not a huge fan, but the monsoon rains have been delightful and keeping it under 100 degrees many days, so I'm pretty happy about all that.

Hey! speaking of the monsoons, I was really inspired this month by the clouds and colors and shapes of this time of season and made new work based on that. I have been using Sennelier extra soft pastels and airbrush medium along with inks and acrylic paints and wow, that combo is addictive! I usually go nuts with color and pattern, but I have been trying to calm down and be bit more minimal. This is something I am really liking right now. My most successful pieces are the ones that have a simplicity to them.

 OK thats it for now!

xoxo Leanne

Blogs.... it's where ideas, news and information go!

Hello world!

I have a bunch of new stuff going on lately!

I just wrapped up my solo show in Berkeley at the Urbano Cellars Gallery titled "Material Tendencies" that was April/May. Then I had a very busy 5 weeks teaching a three level painting class at the University of Arizona. By three levels I mean it was a full summer class, from beginners through advanced undergraduate students. It was an absolute blast and these kids where unbelievably talented young people. You can see pics at my instructor artist page on FB, go like it, and check it out! https://www.facebook.com/LeanneMillerArtInstructionTucson/

Since then, about a week or so.... I have been getting together a new Youtube channel and a Society6 profile also! So exciting, right? Here are the links! Society6: https://society6.com/leannecmiller  at Society6, you can buy prints on anything from metal, to canvas to paper, even some things can be bought on canvas tote bags, or pillows, its so cool and fun with a great bunch of artists! I;m really looking forward to this site! Please go check it out, I know you'll be as excited as I am about it!

My Youtube channel will have DIY/How to videos, and peeks into my process, hopefully artists interviews in the future, and advice. Lots of fun stuff to watch. Right now there is an introductory video, and some flipagrams of my work. I'll be working diligently on more content this week! https://youtu.be/CjZNt1mOGWg  and https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCHMP6TVjNLNbLVCL20IqsyA

Upcoming shows are:

RawArtist showcase in Phoenix, AZ Sept 15th, 7pm at The Pressroom. This will be a big event with music, artists, fashion designers, etc from all over Arizona, and beyond. Tickets are $20.00 and I encourage you to get one ASAP if you are in Arizona. This will be a blast! Get tickets at www.rawartists.org/leannecmiller

The next opening will also be in Phoenix, for the "Conception" see more info on their Facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/ConceptionEvents/  funny enough this is Sept 17th, just a day later than the last. That will be a long weekend!

And then after that in November I will be having a solo show right here in Tucson at the Tiny Town Gallery on Toole Ave. I'm so excited to be a part of this little homegrown gallery! I will have this spot all to my self! There will be installations, and murals and paintings, it's gonna be nuts! See Tiny Town at http://tinytowntucson.com/Hope to see you at some, or all of these events coming up soon!

Best,

Leanne
